Blackberries have always been one of my favorite fruits. They are small, textured and always taste delicious. My mom always had blackberries in my lunch and I still find myself constantly purchasing them as an adult. I recently went to the grocery store and these little fruits were on sale! We grabbed a bunch of containers and put them in the freezer when we got home.
Every night with dinner, I try to create a fun healthy water for my husband and I to drink.
It does not have to be fancy with a lot of ingredients (as this drink only has 2), but something flavorful and memorable.
I let the berries freeze for about two weeks. In the picture above, you can see the frost on some of the berries. I like to use frozen berries or fruit instead of ice cubes, this my first secret. The fruit makes the water look and taste fun. This next step is critical to the process.
I squeeze one half of a lemon into the glass. Then let the frozen berries soak in the pure lemon juice for a minute or so. You'll see the frost disappear and the berries will change into a bring magenta color. Make sure to give the berries a little whirl in the lemon juice so they are all coated.
Once the berries have been soaked, add cold water of your choice and enjoy!
I like to sip the lemon water out of the cup and leave the berries until the end. I let each berry slip into my mouth one at a time and its like a little burst of happiness inside each berry.
